Our Restoration Philosophy
This BMW 635CSi arrived at our workshop for a full restoration with the goal of not only preserving its original character but also subtly enhancing it. The owner is passionate about this model and has owned several examples before. He previously attempted restorations but was unsuccessful. We are creating a car for him that he can enjoy trouble-free for the long run. We aim to achieve a quality level that meets or exceeds factory standards while incorporating minor modern upgrades to enhance performance, reliability, and comfort.
Current Progress
The vehicle has been completely disassembled, with every step meticulously documented. Our partner used advanced wet blasting technology to clean the bodywork, ensuring that rust, undercoating, and paint were removed without damaging the metal. The body is now in the hands of our partner, Garage22, where it is undergoing a comprehensive restoration process. There is plenty of work ahead, as the condition of the body is quite poor. In some areas, we even found careless previous "repairs.
To ensure that this 635CSi runs as smoothly as it looks, we sent the automatic transmission for a complete overhaul to our trusted transmission specialist. This process includes a thorough inspection, replacement of worn components, and meticulous reassembly to guarantee seamless shifting.
Our team is currently focused on the engine restoration. This involves fully disassembling, inspecting, and cleaning all components. Critical parts such as the crankshaft, cylinder head, and engine block are being machined and refurbished to ensure optimal performance and durability.
The restoration of this BMW 635CSi is a testament to our dedication to preserving classic cars while integrating a touch of modern technology. We are confident that the final result will be a stunning example of this iconic grand tourer, providing its owner with an exceptional driving experience for years to come.
